Roberto Perez joins Brown Weinraub after more than a decade of leadership in New York City and State government and politics. Roberto has deep relationships with elected officials and political stakeholders in communities across New York State and has a strong record of delivering success for variety of legislative and issue campaigns.
Most recently, Roberto served as Vice President of Legislative Affairs for the New York Power Authority (NYPA) where he advised the NYPA President on legislative and political strategy and served as the primary liaison between NYPA and the Legislature and Executive Chamber. Prior to his work at NYPA, Roberto served in various roles in the New York City Mayor's Office under two Mayors, including as Director Intergovernmental Affairs, where he was the chief liaison between the City and federal, state, and local elected officials. He also served as the Commissioner of the Community Assistance Unit (CAU), where he led efforts to connect communities with the City’s COVID-19 recovery efforts.
Prior to that role, Roberto was Senior Executive Director of Intergovernmental Affairs at the New York City Department of Education (DOE) where he managed city, state, and federal legislative affairs on behalf of the Chancellor. He also served as Senior Advisor at the New York City Mayor's Office of State Legislative Affairs, where he managed the legislative portfolios of various city agencies, including the Department of Education and the School Construction Authority. Roberto also served as Deputy Chief of Staff in the Office of the New York City Public Advocate, where he directed staff outreach for key areas throughout New York City.
