Everett Hart

Everett joins Brown & Weinraub after serving as Legislative Director for Assemblymember Anna Kelles where he managed a legislative portfolio of more than one hundred bills, drafted and edited various legislation primarily relating to environmental conservation, energy, criminal justice, and housing.

In this role, Everett provided support and advice for constituents and advocates assisting their campaigns to pass various legislation through the legislature including a ban on carbon dioxide based hydraulic fracturing, establishing a State native plant seed supply program, the first agrivoltaics research program in New York, and allowing for the use of risk retention group insurance by carshares. Other notable legislation that was worked on during his time as Legislative Director includes the Just Energy Transition Act, the Sustainable Fashion Act, the Earned Time Act, the CARE Act, the Harmful Algal Bloom Monitoring and Prevention Act, and the NY Native Plants program.

During his time at the Assembly, Everett also worked under the former Environmental Conservation Chair Steve Englebright where he had the opportunity serve the 4th Assembly District and assist in the passage of the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act, the Environmental Bond Act, the Child Safe Products Act, and New York’s Green Amendment. Other significant legislation worked on was related to environmental public health, consumer protection, and the recycling and proper disposal of hazardous and carcinogenic materials.

He received his undergraduate degree in Political Science from the College of Saint Rose and his Master’s in Public Administration, concentrating in environmental policy, from Rockefeller College at SUNY Albany
