Brown & Weinraub is pleased to announce the addition of Erin Hammond as Senior Advisor and Burgundy Magoon as Legislative Director, expanding the expertise offered to existing and potential clients. Both women bring to the firm years of government service in roles of increasing responsibility through which they gained invaluable experience and developed strong relationships.
Erin Hammond joins Brown and Weinraub after serving as Director of External Affairs at the Office of Cannabis Management (OCM), where she created the External Affairs Unit to establish communication between industry partners and agency staff and help develop and launch OCM’s first set of comprehensive cannabis regulations. During more than a dozen years at the NYS Department of Health (DOH) Erin worked in a variety of positions in the Governmental and Public Affairs Department, including serving as primary point of contact between DOH and the Governor’s Office and worked on COVID response. She began her government career in the Governor’s Office of Intergovernmental Affairs after serving as an advocate for elderly patients at St. Peter’s Health Partners in Albany.
Burgundy Magoon joins the firm from the NYS Assembly Ways and Means Committee, where she performed analysis of the NYS Financial Plan, NYS Capital Program and Debt Service, Public Authorities, Procurement, Public Safety and Victims Services. Burgundy evaluated all proposed policy related to debt and reviewed projects brought before the Public Authorities Control Board (PACB) for approval by 11 statewide Public Authorities including the Empire State Development Corporation, Dormitory Authority, and Housing Finance Agency. She also gained policy expertise in Transportation and Elections issues.
